Heartkids WA
Welcome to
Heartkids. We are a group of families who each have a child
with a heart
disorder, who have come together to offer support and share
information.
Doctors and medical staff will give our
children every care and treatment in the
management of their condition, however, in our experience
most parents still feel
worried, anxious and sometimes isolated. Often, as if they
are the only parents to
be in this situation.
Heartkids believe that parents who are
well informed and supported are better able to
cope with the day to day management of their child. We
recognise that a number of
questions encountered are not always medical.
Coming to terms with a defect is never
easy. Discussing it with other families at Heartkids can
put much of the concern into perspective and ease many
worries.
Thank you for visiting the Heartkids
website. We hope that whether you are a parent, grand parent,
aunt, uncle, friend or indeed a heartkid yourself, that
what you find is helpful to you.
The
Heartkids website was designed by an adult heartkid, Hon Hiew.
Sadly Hon passed away in October 2003, work unfinished. However,
his business partner and friend, James Abbott has picked up
the project and helped us have the Hearttkids website ready
for launching on Valentine’s Day 2004 in time for Heartkids
WA’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Our sincere thanks are extended to Hon
and James at Torpedo
Creative. They have shared their expertise and time with
incredible generosity and we are indeed grateful to them both.
